Chemical Process Simulation on Parallel Computers
نویسنده
چکیده
We have developed a core code to model the cylindrical polar and Cartesian incompressible turbulent Navier-Stokes equations with application to chemical reactor problems. A conventional co-located finite volume method is used to discretise the conservative form of the partial differential equations. The pressure velocity coupling is solved using the SIMPLE algorithm with the resulting sets of equations solved using tri-diagonal matrix or pre-conditioned conjugate gradient memthods as appropriate. A parallel message passing version of the code has been developed within MPI and PVM. In this paper we will describe the core-code and the development of a specific module to model the industrial production of titania particles resulting from the interaction at high pressures and temperatures of streams of titanium chloride and oxygen.

Simulation of a batch chemical process using parallel computing with PVM and Speedup
Speedup, a commercial software package for the dynamic modeling of chemical processes, has been coupled with the PVM software to allow a single process model to be distributed over several computers running in parallel. As an initial application, this coarse distribution technique was applied to a batch chemical plant containing 16 unit operations. Computation time for this problem was reduced ...
متن کاملParallelized numerical methods for large systems of differential–algebraic equations in industrial applications
Based on a hierarchical modular modeling the large nonlinear systems of differential algebraic equations arising from industrial applications in electric circuit simulation or in dynamic process simulation of chemical plants can be structured into subsystems. Parallelized numerical methods for solving such systems are considered at the level of nonlinear and linear equations. Merging subsystems...
متن کاملParallel Modular Dynamic Process Simulation ?
To meet the needs of plant wide dynamic process simulation of today's complex, highly interconnected chemical production plants, parallelizable numerical methods using divide and conquer strategies are considered. The large systems of di erential algebraic equations (DAE's) arising from an unit oriented modular modeling of chemical and physical processes in a chemical plant are partitioned into...
متن کاملChaos Control in a Non-Isothermal Autocatalytic Chemical Reactor
In this paper, a reaction system consisting of two parallel, non-isothermal autocatalytic reactions in a Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) has been considered. Reactor chaotic behavior is possible for certain values of system parameters. Two types of controllers are designed and compared in order to control both the reactor temperature and the product concentration. T...
متن کاملParallel Simulation of Pulse Coded Neural Networks
The simulation of brain areas (e.g. the visual cortex), comprising huge networks of integrate & fire neurons is very time consuming even on high performance computers. The use of parallel computers can speed up the simulation process. However, the different parallelization strategies investigated here, show that the network's communication structure has to be analyzed thoroughly, in order to op...
متن کاملParallel Simulation for Business Process Re-engineering
This paper describes the development of a parallel simulation model for analysis of a business process system. Today’s increasing complexity of such systems, together with the need for more accurate results means that the task of simulation of business processes frequently outgrows the computational power of economically viable single process systems. One solution is to partition the computatio...
